How to verify a supplier screenshot
A screenshot is not evidence — it is a claim. These four checks turn it into something testable before you pay.
Why screenshots fail as evidence
- It can be edited in two minutes.
- It can come from a different pool than the one you will receive.
- It shows one moment, not the address history.
Ask for the addresses instead
Request 20–50 addresses from the exact subnet you will be assigned, then run them yourself. If the vendor cannot share a sample, that is the answer.
Check the ASN mix
A screenshot showing "residential" tells you nothing about the ASN. Group the sample by ASN: one hosting ASN dominating means resold datacenter space.
Compare the same IPs two days later
Static residential should look identical. If the country or ASN changes, the label was wrong.
